Kay Bagwell has always loved the piano. She started lessons at age 9, and her parents never let her quit. In high school, she learned that she enjoyed being an accompanist and went to school to learn more. She graduated from Trinity Baptist College with a degree in education and music.
Since becoming a full-time piano teacher in 2018 in Raleigh, North Carolina, she's learned to cultivate a love of learning and growing with her piano lessons. Students enjoy a respite from all other concerns when they are together studying and learning something new about the piano. Teachers are the catalyst that make learning interesting, and she strives to make every lesson as enjoyable and useful as possible.
To better serve her students, Kay became a National Certified Teacher of Music in 2020 from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). She is very active in local workshops and conferences and is continually learning about teaching people the piano. She still enjoys accompanying choirs and church services around the area.
She also likes developing the piano community around her. As an active member of Raleigh Piano Teachers (RPTA), she has served as past treasurer and is currently the Young Artist Auditions Chair. She also serves as the treasurer for the North Carolina Music Teachers Association (NCMTA).
Kay stays busy with her two daughters and needy canine companion, Friday, who likes to nap under the piano. She enjoys reading science fiction when she finds some free time and dreams of making a quilt one day.
